Our level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction is delivered via the following to ensure you get the best learning whilst managing any other commitments you may have.

This course runs for three consecutive weeks from the start date.

Contact days are every Tuesday for 3 weeks (9.15 am to 4 pm), live webinars are held every Wednesday and Thursday for 3 weeks (10.30 am to 1 pm). You will also receive a full-colour training manual in the post and access to our study portal within 5 working days of purchase, so you can start your training without delay.

Week 1

This workshop will provide you with all the necessary skills and knowledge needed to carry out a safe and effective gym induction.

Wednesday 10.30 am - 1.00 pm (optional live webinar)

Webinar 1 - Conducting client consultations.

Webinar 2 - Planning and instructing gym-based exercise.

Week 2

Group induction practice and summative assessment of you instructing a group induction.

One to one assessment practice and summative assessment of you instructing your planned session for your client.

What to bring - Please bring your course folder, and a bottle of water, and wear suitable gym attire. 

Yes, it is. The course is not only approved by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), it is also recognised by ICREPS (The International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals) – the overarching international institution. Gaining this qualification will therefore enable you to work as a fitness instructor in any country with an ICREPS-affiliation.

Yes and no. In order to become a personal trainer, you will first need to gain a Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instruction. Once you have obtained this and have obtained some experience working as a fitness instructor, you will then be able to train for the Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training. After you have earnt this qualification, you will then be able to start your career as a personal trainer.

Once you are Level 3 qualified, the average salary for a personal trainer largely depends on where you live in the UK, ranging between £25,000 and £60,000. In comparison to fitness instructors with a Level 2 qualification, the average starting salary is approximately £19,000.

Working as a personal trainer also gives you the freedom to charge hourly rates rather than earn a salary. These typically range from approximately £12 per hour for starters up to £100 an hour for more experienced personal trainers.
