Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity
Course Overview
The aim of the Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity is to give you the knowledge and skills to enable you to offer nutritional advice to your fitness clients. You will learn how to screen clients thoroughly and agree sensible nutritional goals that are achievable for your client.
Location
Southwick Leisure Centre, Brighton

This course is delivered on a one to one basis with a tutor, which gives you the opportunity to begin studying immediately and the flexibility to study around your work and family commitments. Once you have registered, you are assigned your own personal tutor who guides you through your qualifications, assessing you throughout the courses whilst giving you support via email, telephone and face to face tutorials. All your tutorials and practical assessments can be booked in Monday to Saturday 8am to 4pm. The course takes approximately 6-8 weeks to complete but can be fast tracked if needed. The course focuses on the following areas:

  • Principles of nutrition
  • Key guidelines in relation to nutrition
  • Nationally recommended practice in relation to providing nutritional advice
  • The relationship between nutrition and physical activity
  • Collecting information relating to nutrition
  • Using nutritional information
  • The principles of nutritional goal setting with clients
  • Collecting and analyzing nutritional information
  • Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme

The course is assessed using a range of different assessment methods:
 
  • 1 x Multiple Choice Exam
  • 1 x Worksheets

You must also produce a portfolio of evidence that includes client screening forms, and evidence of SMART goal setting.

  • A REPs Level 2 recognised Fitness Instructor’s qualification such as our level 2 certificate in fitness instruction
  • Communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) is involved, so good communication skills are needed.
  • There is also an element of learning online which involves the use of a PC and the Internet; you should, therefore, have a reasonable understanding of Information and Communication Technology.
